Fevi Reyes revives Cloisonette

Accessory designer Fevi Reyes presented her new collection Imperial Bling during an exhibit at the beauty salon The Apartment in Miramar, Puerto Rico. The week before Mother's Day Reyes celebrated with her clients, friends and the Fernado Rodriquez, owner of the salon, the launching of this collection which integrates elements from ancient China, via the art of cloisonete, with modern styling create a line that is both elegant and functional.

Cloisonne beads are created by skilled artisans with each cloisonne bead taking up to four hours to produce. Dozens of tiny cells are soldered to the bead's surface, then filled with four layers of enamel, and fired after each filling. Then each bead is polished, revealing intricate and beautiful designs. Since each bead is handmade, colors and styles may vary. ID Couture notes that the art of cloisonete began over 700 years ago and was popularized during the Ming Dynasty.

"My objective with this collection was to take this ancient art and make it contemporary" commented Reyes. Although almost the entire collection integrates cloisonete some pieces use lemon quartz and turquoise. The pieces are given a 14 carat gold bath, and they are designed to be used in all seasons.

Chelsea Rebelle - Destination LA

Chelsea Rebelle designer Sarah Brannon got her start selling her creations in markets from a market stall in her native New Zealand before relocating to San Fran and then LA - where her label was officially born. The name Chelsea Rebelle refers to the main character from the song "New Wave Girl" by These Animal Men, while Brannon opted for the french spelling of Rebel because she thought the English variation sounded "too harsh and not girly enough".
ID Couture received the Chelsea Rebelle lookbook, lathered in 1940's war time postage stamps atop deliberately crudely taken photographs, adding to the nostalgic feel. The new season for Chelsea Rebelle features gorgeously structured, 2-tone shift dresses complete with peter-pan collars and piping, balanced with satin flounce skirts adorned with giant bows, cropped capes clasped with embroidered fixings, exoticly vintage black dresses and ribcage waisted electric blue jeans.

Blessures D'Amour a la The Cassette Society

Cassette Society’s mid-summer 08 collection, Blessures D’Amour, borrows from the throws of love – the richness, the romance, the injuries, the excess. ID Couture finds tell-tale French overtones epitomised from Parisienne heroines and fashionable personalities like Marie Antoinette and within some frameworks, Coco Chanel, stud the Blessures D'Amour collection. Subtle references to the eccentricities and theatrics of the harlequins also appear.

ID Couture loves the Kissing doves, ominous roses, ‘like drinking poison’ scrawls, ‘take a trip’ and ‘face’ placement prints all with surface hints of self-destruction and love - painting the 4 stories told through the Blessures D'Amour collection - Attraction, Passion, Comfort and Emptiness.

The entertainment will include live jazz, string quartet, street entertainers and installation art by the Damien Brewer. The event is coinciding with Daffodil Day, raising awareness and funds for the Prostate Council Queensland.

Taking place in Howard St Laneway Brisbane, in a traditionaly un-elevated, European format, Subfusco’s launch not only references prominent Italian influences in the styling but indulge the modern-Australian interpretation of what a modern Australian Romeo should wear? Asymmetrical construction, textured fabrics, unconventional tailoring, denims in all shades of blue, accessories and a touch of adrogyny. A selection of original and quoted poetry printed on the t-shirts convey the power of words. Subfusco's Romeo is a modern poet with a unique sense of individual style. Chelsea De Luca's vintage inspired empire

ID Couture has discovered omnipotent Hollywood glamour has landed in James St.
Lights, Camera, Action!
Inspired by more than transgressional fashion trends and fads with ephemeral fashion credit, Chelsea De Luca designs opulent jewellery that could have graced the Hollywood starlets of the 1940's. Without an understanding austerity, the Chelsea girl drips in chains, jewels and costume pieces steeped in strong, glamourous femininity.
With the new collection taking inspiration from the great female historical figures of Egypt, Chelsea investigates a modern interpretation of the strongly exotic Hollywood theme.
Chelsea's boutique is reminiscent of a 1940's American lounge and must be experienced to be believed, with either Chelsea or Bianca dedicated to help you find your newest favourite piece.
With the A listers of the elk of Elle McPherson, Beyonce, Rose Byrne and Eva Mendez donning Chelsea's gorgeous creations, women from all cross-sections find the handmade jewellery irresistible, whether discovering the style for the first time or by relishing in the memories of days gone by.

Tato Y Memi - Softly Drapped Confidence

ID Couture was lucky enough to view Tato Y Memi's latest collection, and what a sweet treat it turned out to be.

Tato Y Memi's collection features a contrast between soft flowing ruffles, bold prints and structured panting, referencing femininity and the associated soft fraility together with a strong and confident aesthetic. Utalising this seasons trend for muted colour palates, Tato Y Memi keeps their collection classicly fashionable without the overt use of transgressional fashion currency.
Concentrating on the drapped female form, the Tato Y Memi woman celebrates and relishes in both her femininity and independence.

The Androgynous Mr. Rose

Mr. Rose, the brainchild of Sophie Toohey, is a lesson in female bespoke Androgyny.

Dedicated to women, Mr. Rose creates beautiful shirting cut specifically for the femme form, relishing in the deep satisfaction found in a very white button on a very white crisp shirt.

Each season Sophie creates a blend of tailored classics juxtaposed with strong directional pieces. Focused on offering 'the' fit, Mr. Rose has established a dual sizing system that relinquishes women from ever feeling standard. Working on the basis of clothing sizes (6-16) AND bust lines, the aptly named ‘Bud’ (A/B cup), ‘Blossom’ (B/C) and ‘Bloom’ (C/D) variations are available for all Mr. Rose Classico and Tuxedo styles.

This new take on women's shirting has ID Couture applauding, offering women a styling solution evenly balanced in comfort and wearablility as it is in style, showing men in the boardroom that tailoring is not only the domain of the homme.

Mr. Rose is available exclusively through the boutique in Sydney's Paddington, online, as well as seasonal Trunk Shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane where you can view the latest collection and enjoy the individual service and hospitality at appointment-only viewings.

Limes Hotel - A Sharper taste

ID Couture, at the risk of over-exposing our new favourite haunt, feels the need to let the world know about the sharpest taste emanating out of Brisbane's night life.

Limes Hotel, a newly constructed boutique hotel perched on the corner of St Pauls Terrace and Constance St in a once unfashionable part of Fortitude Valley, is the first Queensland hotel in the prestigious Boutique Hotels group.

Boasting a sumptuous roof-top bar (complete with bar food menu) and cinema, the space is adorned in opulent white stone, reflecting the many lighting effects incorporated by the designers.

Offering private booths akin to luxurious day-beds, completed with white canopies, curtains and pashminas (for those fresh winter Brisbane nights), the friendly waitstaff are eager to make your stay a pleasurable and memorable one, regardless of whether it be a quick drink, a bite to eat or the full experience of their individually designed rooms.
