Willow Has Sprouted

The latest edition to the New Farm beauty community is the ever so breezy Willow hair. ID Couture visited Hayley Braggs and her team, Shea Carroll and Kim Neeser, to find out what all the fuss is about this suburb's latest addition. Hayley prides herself on complete consulation, working closely with the customer's tone and skin colouring to develop a personally styled hair solution to suit the individual. Hayley will be offering regular updates from tradeshows and cutting edge journals as to whats hot of the rocks for hair for both guys and dolls, so keep posted. ID Couture loves the ambience and bright, natural lighting of the salon; only upstaged by the talent of the beautifully friendly stylists. Willow hair is located at 27 Hazlewood st New Farm and is available for appointment on 33585700.

Newsflash - The Tribune Brisbane

Walking into the Tribune Brisbane on Arthur St (just off the ever so opulent James St in Brisbane's iconoclastic Fortitude Valley) is like stepping straight into a sassy New York Boutique without the jet-lag or concern of weighty luggage restrictions. The former WWII storage bunker that now houses this oasis of original design has been lovingly and sparingly restored, savouring the buildings original character and charm. The Tribune Brisbane has taken the road less travelled by supporting local Queensland designers. The Tribune's manager, Ken, stocks latest season from emerging local fashion talent such as George Wu, Zooski, Mayke and Love Hero. Amanda Heelan and Maria Diakos's locally made jewellery is also stocked instore. This local talent teamed with high-end shoes, millinery and accessories from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Sergio Rossi and Manolo Blahnik (just to name a few) makes this space a true find. Both in-house stylists, Ken and Tanja, are experts in personal styling and creating a look from scratch are at your service, how amazing is that! ID Couture loves the uniqueness of The Tribune and places the space our pick for the best destination for Mother-Daughter shopping sprees, offering innovative yet classic designs for all tastes nestled amongst the James St cafe precinct - a recipe for the perfect Saturday.

STOP PRESS!

The Tribune is about to embark on a new journey into the world of homme, can we be any more excited!?!?!

Simple Formalities

Marco Censi - AW 09

Men’s shoes continue with the direction of robust elegance and simplicity explored in previous collections - resulting in a clean form and, like women’s shoes this season, think SOLID and UTILITY. Top-line heights float below the ankle with low heels making a return. Congruent with trends, buckles and heavy hardware are featured this season including layered uppers, mixed textiles, metal embellishments wrapping laces and buckle/lace combinations ensure to keep the simple silhouettes daring and unique. Our style boy Brent Derepas at ID Couture loves Veinwear for our men's footwear solutions - visit http://www.veinwear.com/

Sophisticated Colour

With a balanced colour palette for Autumn/Winter 2008, warm winter browns are complimented with deep reds and amber yellows resulting in an overall warm aesthetic. These earthy hues are highlighted with sensual yet workable mushroom pinks and pastel blues creating supple splashes of colour across an otherwise barron pallate. Soft greys also carry on into this season, offering a more subtle substitute for more traditionaly harsh blacks.

Quirky Yet Conservative

Jane&Eleni have just released their look book for the SpringSummer 09 collection, and we here at ID Couture got the sneak preview. Utilising a muted colour palate (this season's big trend), the earthy hues tone down the overt femininity of soft lines, frills, capes and fringing. With a large focus on detailing with a slightly quirky approach delivers an accessibility to the more Conservative woman who wants to dabble with something interesting yet offers a more sober option for the more expressive woman who is looking for a stronger classic aesthetic. Jane&Eleni can be contacted though School of Romeo PR -james@schoolofromeo.com.

Beach Bums

Who is Angie? have released their second collection 'Viva Las Vegas' for the 2008 season. Debuting last year, who is angie? takes a fun look at swimwear for all tastes and needs - in and out of the pool. With more women purchasing swimwear not just for swiming in, the pieces are often teamed with other items to create a relaxed yet elegant look a la Puro Beach. With the grasps of winter upon us, ID Couture relishes the chance to rock out the gloves, scarfs and coats but looks forward to the days to lounging by the pool feeling ever-so resort chic.

Stylish Mamma - to be

ID Couture gets many requests from expectant mums regrading what's hot and what's not for maternity wear. We recommend that ultimately a list of  essentials to prevent that often second-guessed impulse buy that spends the whole nine months in the closet. We love Egg Maternity wear for their stylish approach to pregnant fashions. We suggest buying the basics like a pair of jeans (low cut) with a pair of black dress pants (wide leg and elasticated) and some empire or a-line dresses. For the best coupling, wear solid colours teamed with accessories like scarfs, costume jewellery, hippy belts, enticing attention from your bump to your face and neckline. Matching bags and shoes also work well in lifting a blocked outfit. The best part about the accessory route is that they will all be able to be worn long after bub is out of diapers; unlike the jeans.

Traditional Art meets Fashion Photography

Corinne Lewis, a sassy Brisbane based artist, is holding her latest exhibition in Melbourne at the Metro5 Gallery, 1214 High St Armadale. The exhibition runs from the 9th to the 27th of July.

Corinne's unique manipulation of classic fashion photography into her immaculate paintings need to be seen to be believed. With a rarely parallelled masterful command of lighting and textures, Corinne's paintings appear to jump of the canvas. While most people need to double take to realise that Corinne's paintings aren't actually prints on canvas, the illusion is broken when the individual character of detail shines though on closer investigation. Here at ID Couture we fully confess our love of both Corinne and her work and would adore any of her paintings gracing our walls. This is one artist to surely watch closely.
