So with this blissfull thought in mind we here at id couture are happy to bring you some key trends for Spring. The shoe is such an amazing creation, it has the power to make us weak at the knee or give us the boldness to take on the world. So we are happy to report on what we will be wearing these warmer months.

The Wedge - This style will be quite strong again this season presenting itself in many shades and styles. This option is a great pick for those whom are wanting to add a lift with out having to balance on a slim heel of seasons past. The wedge is worn best with a Maxi dress or works well tied back with a relaxed cotton pant and blazer. This week we have decided to focus on the gentlemen. We have listed some simple tips and suggestions that may assist you in understanding the basic rules of dessing. Now as you are all aware, dress codes apply in all types of situations. By using these sipmle guidelines you will make quite an impression each and every time your leather sole hits the street.

What shirts go with what suits?

As a rule the shirt should always be a shade or two lighter than the suit, look for texture in the fabric of the shirt i.e. an interesting weave or detail adds a lift to the combination. A double cuff and cuff link is optimal with a formal suit and always finishes the look quite nicely. For a lounge/cocktail suit a simple slim cut business shirt is fine.

What coloured shoes go with what coloured suits/pants?

As a rule of thumb, navy and warm coloured suits should be accompanied with a tan/brown shoe and belt. Black and charcoal should be matched back with a black dress shoe, patent is an option with a formal suit. Be mindful of the toe shape, a point or narrow toe finish is best. In terms of dress pants and shirts the same rules apply. In regards to denim the options are open, just keep in mind if you are sporting a statement shoe the remaining elements of your out fit should be subtle and simply complement the look.

Pin stripes? Checks? Combos? Shirts and ties?

This combination is often for the brave, it works like a martini a little of each element can be perfect. For the modern man a slim tie is best, and for a more traditional gentlemen the standard cut is acceptable. Avoid comic/gimmick ties, and silk is the fabric of choice. Try to continue the colour theme with your tie and match to the shades of your suit. In saying this adventure can be had with a tie in terms of colour or finish, remembering though the remaining elements of your outfit needs to be quite understated.

Here at id couture, we have fallen in love with the new jewellery collection by Australian designer Zoe Sernack. Her new range titled "Imago Mortis" - The Dance of Death, references the era of Victorian Mourning jewellery, a period in which personally designed jewellery reflected the times and lives of those whom whore it. The collection consists of carved images made from genuine Buffalo bone and horn. These abstract pieces are truly unique and beautiful to look at.

We admire the fact that each piece from the collection can stand on it's own, or easily be tied back with jewellery from your own dark treasure chest. The prize winners:

ID Couture's own Ramona Telecican took away first prize at the most recent Limes rooftop spectacular "The Devil Wears Prada, and you wear...?" with these stunning, one-off wedges.

Designed and produced by Ramona, these savvy sky-scraping platforms gratefully received compliments and looks of awe throughout the night. But the biggest compliment of all was being named the winner of the "Most Fabulous Shoe" competition and receiving the very generous prize pack consisting of vouchers from Limes Hotel, Gary Castles and The Thai Foot Spa team.

Wow! Any aching arches or numbing toes were definitely blown away.

And as if that wasn't enough, the bubbly, canapes and complimentary screening of "The Devil Wears Prada" made for the perfect mid-week treat. Great too, was the atmosphere; to see so many lovely ladies making a real effort for themselves and savouring the sweet delights on offer was fantastic!

There's a lot to be said about a facial first impression; striking eyes, luscious lips, defined jaw-line... But it's the Brows that have it.

It's all too often that we neglect their ever present purpose of framing the face until something goes completely wrong. Eyebrows are not only a defining feature of your face, they define your features (especially your eyes), and keeping them shaped up is a beauty styling must. Eyebrow trends have seen us strip them through thick

and thin, but at the end of the day you really have to tend to what suits you most.Thinner eyebrows tend to allow more focus to be drawn to the eyes, thicker eyebrows are a striking feature that draws the eye to the cheekbones and jawline. Depending on the effect you want to create, the principal is to work with your features before working with a trend.

The preferable approach of course is to let a professional tend to them, but the choices at present are so overwhelming, it's hard to know who to choose. Leggings as Pants: Australia says NO.

In our modern times, we understand that there are larger issues at hand i.e; the recession. However, we at ID Couture believe that the 'Leggings worn as pants' saga is an issue that cannot be turned a blind eye any longer.

This warning comes with some urgency as the longevity of the legging trend is forecast for at least another season. Our options have flourished as fashion houses treat us with a vast array of print-crazy styles, fabrics and shapes. HOWEVER: Just because the horizon has widened, does at all, in any way, change the basic and strict rule that they are in fact leggings.

Leggings. Not pants; with a cropped, tailored seams & specific to shaping the lower torso... Just leggings. So please, for the sake of your style integrity and all those around you, if in doubt, pants in, leggings out.

It's not exactly comfy and just like the Brisbane bus lines we'll hear you before we even see you coming but this YSL creation is so uncomfortably chic ID Couture puts it right up there with stiletto heels - it aches to wear but great fashion currency.

The Plexiglass vest for Yves Saint Laurent SpringSummer 08 collection is the handy work of Stefano Pilati, the man never afraid to experiment and try something new.

Pilati, the head designer of YSL used to be Tom Ford’s right-hand man at the YSL Rive Gauche ready-to-wear collection and has also designed for Giorgio Armani and Miu Miu.

The styles reflected a deepening of the underground ironically aligned within a preppy framework.

ID Couture stumbled across Lara Cresser's fashion illustrations and loved their rawness and naivety.

Lara has been invloved with sketching from an early age, ever since her grandfather instilled a deep love for the art.

Her grandfather tutored the young Lara from his first babysitting duties, teaching the impressionable youth the propper way to draw the real-life figure.

About to complete a bachelor of law/media communications, Lara says that indulging in sketching is a pure love,

"I've never considered it a job. I happily spend hours doing work for whoever is interested in having it. It's carthartic!"

Debuting her illustrations in the cancer council magazine when she was just 16, ID Couture thinks this girl is going to go a long way in fashion illustration.

As the last greats bow to the organics of humanity, so does their purity of legacy.

Ladies, I'm going to let you in on a secret, fashion brought about the end of fashion though a continuum of fashion self-referencing fashion - ie take how many times, even before his death, has a designer referenced his 'le smoking' or Vionnet's master bias-cut craftmanship.

Fashion, as it resonates with most, is dead. Don't tip your hat or wipe that tear from your eye, she died when we entered the post-modern era. The post-modern era (commencing circa 1970) defined itself as the end of a fluid temporal history - a time when origins are unidentifiable in a continuous nostalgic self reference, a time in our history when fashion has truly been democratised.

No longer are silhouettes dictated or skirt length abhorrently obeyed. The genealogy of fashion now moves laterally, infinitely layering itself back on top of it's own identity while stealing inferences of others right form the kitsch and camp (Galliano) to unsettling themes of violence and brutality (McQueen), the romantic (Alanah Hill) and the heroin chic heavily explored in the 90s epitomised in the styling of Kate Moss.

Designers still peddle this idea of fashionable seasonal releases to increase consumption - a planned obsolescence, and those unsure of their identity can be caught up in the glitz of marketing hype trying to wear what is 'prescribed'.

The good news here ladies is that the definition of fashion has changed - it now represents the financial and stylistic value of the garments style and 'a way of dress accepted and deemed appropriate by the society around it', not a designers dictated aesthetic - It is integral to note that fashion doesn't exist in a vacuum - it's point of reference is the society around it.

Style is now trumps. Style is about an appropriated image, a connection with the projected identity of the garments in a holistic framework - borrowed from an infinite number of sources to form a 'look'.

Last week I had to go on a tough assignment (jokes) and cover ANZFW on behalf of FASHIONTREND Australia. After being late for my flight and relising a took my partner's passport instead of mine, I arrived late in Auckland's Westin which was gorgeous btw and with no delay off to the Nom*D show. Thank god I had my gorgeous minder a local PR student Michelle, who made sure I got myself safe from show to show, indated me with all the goss and showed me all the hottest shopping spots, to make sure I got the best experience from Auckland.

I was so impressed with the unique style of NZ designers, it was refreshing, dark, young and creative. My highlights were the Nom* D, Zambesi, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Jaeha and Huffer off-site shows, as well as a rising stars Alexandra Owen & Nyne. Fevi Reyes revives Cloisonette

Accessory designer Fevi Reyes presented her new collection Imperial Bling during an exhibit at the beauty salon The Apartment in Miramar, Puerto Rico. The week before Mother's Day Reyes celebrated with her clients, friends and the Fernado Rodriquez, owner of the salon, the launching of this collection which integrates elements from ancient China, via the art of cloisonete, with modern styling create a line that is both elegant and functional.

Cloisonne beads are created by skilled artisans with each cloisonne bead taking up to four hours to produce. Dozens of tiny cells are soldered to the bead's surface, then filled with four layers of enamel, and fired after each filling. Then each bead is polished, revealing intricate and beautiful designs. Since each bead is handmade, colors and styles may vary. ID Couture notes that the art of cloisonete began over 700 years ago and was popularized during the Ming Dynasty.

"My objective with this collection was to take this ancient art and make it contemporary" commented Reyes. Although almost the entire collection integrates cloisonete some pieces use lemon quartz and turquoise.The pieces are given a 14 carat gold bath, and they are designed to be used in all seasons.

Chelsea Rebelle - Destination LA

Chelsea Rebelle designer Sarah Brannon got her start selling her creations in markets from a market stall in her native New Zealand before relocating to San Fran and then LA - where her label was officially born. The name Chelsea Rebelle refers to the main character from the song "New Wave Girl" by These Animal Men, while Brannon opted for the french spelling of Rebel because she thought the English variation sounded "too harsh and not girly enough".

Corinne Lewis, a sassy Brisbane based artist, is holding her latest exhibition in Melbourne at the Metro5 Gallery, 1214 High St Armadale. The exhibition runs from the 9th to the 27th of July.

Corinne's unique manipulation of classic fashion photography into her immaculate paintings need to be seen to be believed. With a rarely parallelled masterful command of lighting and textures, Corinne's paintings appear to jump of the canvas. While most people need to double take to realise that Corinne's paintings aren't actually prints on canvas, the illusion is broken when the individual character of detail shines though on closer investigation. Here at ID Couture we fully confess our love of both Corinne and her work and would adore any of her paintings gracing our walls. This is one artist to surely watch closely.

Personally we at ID Couture can't see them rocking on the streets of Australia, however they do look great on shoots and other extra curricular activities :) and do make your legs look super long - as for walking and comfort, previous ballerina training is advised.

Here at ID Couture we are dedicated to finding the hidden gems that sparkle, if only you knew where to hunt. The first in our series of featured designers and retailers is the effervescent Tammy Goodall of Artisans Gems and Jewels.

Custom wedding bands are one of Tammy’s biggest requests and Artisans only use ethical diamonds for all thier work. Tammy personally designs all her products from her custom pieces right through to her floor stock, each piece taking her 2 to 4 weeks to finish.

TIP: Tammy suggests that you try all pieces of jewellery on, saying that just because it looks good under the lights doesn’t mean it will look good on the client, taking skin complexion, contrast and proportion into consideration. It’s just like clothing, you have to try it on to see how it sits and how it compliments the wearer.
